Critical analysis of my film poster
• The title of the film is “Repression”. This to me gives off a psychological element, to the film. The title is written in red which makes it stand out from the rest of the poster. The use of the red also may give us an indication into what type of genre the film is.
• The main image is of the main character who is looking directly into the camera. The man is crying and looks upset. Behind the man we see a clock which is set to 11:57. This gives an indication to the audience that maybe the time has a significant effect on the mans life. The clock could be tormenting the man due to the tears on his face. The image does its job as well as it leaves us with many questions.
• The character that is positioned in the middle of the poster would be identified as the main character as he is the only character we see and he is situated in the centre.
• The poster carries the tagline of “Lost time is never found again”. This tagline suggests to us again that the movie is something to do with time and maybe the fact that it is affecting the man. Maybe it suggests the idea that the man is living in the past or trying to relive something.
• The credits are found at the bottom of the poster. We can see the production name clearly as this may be a USP. The website is also including with the credits which is showing different types of media platforms.
• The experience/ pleasure that is being offered to the audience I would say is the mysterious side to the film. The audience will want to know why the clock is such an important part of the film and why it plays a big effect on the man. The poster is a good promotion device for the trailer as people will want to see the trailer to see if they can get anymore clues from that and then hopefully the trailer would make them want to see the film.
